With temps in the low 80s, low humidity and high spirits, the annual “Come Out with Pride” parade in Downtown Orlando w as

a rousing success. Central Florida businesses and civic groups proudly walked the parade route through many thousands of spectators including infants in strollers and senior citizens in wheelchairs and everything else in between!

Most every nightclub catering to the LGBT community, along with gay-friendly businesses and numerous social, political and religion-based groups, marched along the streets of Lake Eola and Thorton Park to celebrate the diversity and creativity of our community.

It was a complete success, and my view from the truck bed pulling the Parliament House float was, in my opinion, the best seat in the house. Check out my videos of the parade on YouTube. Just pull up my videos under the name “mrcrazyjohn.”

Now, with the gay pride events complete, it’s time to look ahead to the upcoming week. From October 15th to 18th, it’s not only “Bear Weekend” in Orlando; it’s also my birthday week, too!

My favorite birthday gift this year will be, once again, hosting “Twisted Tom’s Perky Butt Contest 2010” on Friday night, October 15th starting at 12 midnight on the pool stage in the Parliament House Resort’s courtyard. Join me and thousands of bears and their admirers as we rate the “perkiest” butt in all of Central Florida. Do you have what it takes to be the perkiest butt? Sign up by the pool stage from 11:00 to 11:30 p.m.

In addition to the BC3 events taking place at The P House, the Bears of Central Florida (BOCF) will be hosting their 20th annual “Bear Bust” at The Royal Plaza Resort at Walt Disney World from October 14th through the 17th. For more info about all the “Bear Bust” activities and run package info, log onto their website at www.bocf.org.

And finally, join me on Monday, October 18th as I hopefully make it to 45. I will be at the helm of my annual birthday edition of “Monday Happy Hour Karaoke” and reeking of booze and passed out in front of my soundboard — only at The Parliament House Resort. Joel will have the bar open at 4 p.m. and show time is after 5:30 p.m. See ya there.

Twisted Tom will be in this space next week. I’ll talk to you again on October 29th. Bye for now.
