Shadowood II – One of Fort Lauderdale’s Less Known

-Founded by Richard Colbert back in 1994, Shadowood II has been providing services to homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS. Many of these homeless individuals are also victims of violence once they have informed their loved ones of their status. Accredited for excellence and professional standards by Broward County, Florida, Shadowood II has assisted over 5,000 men and women since 1994. Currently about 55 clients look to Shadowood II for their shelter, food and day to day care.

2OTH Annual Poverello Bowl A Thon Now History

-With over 200+ participants in this year’s Poverello Bowl-A-Thon, you can only imagine what a party it was. With sponsors Ultimat Vodka and Paton providing coolers with Cosmos and Margaritas for the 20 minute ride on the beautiful luxury Davis Tours coaches, we had the makings for a great event.

Even with the down economy and less teams than last year, nearly $40,000 was raised for the Poverello Food Bank clients.

-Outside of parking and parking meters, the hottest topic at almost every Wilton Manors City Commission meeting is the initiative to beautify Wilton Drive as well as make it safer for pedestrians and commuters alike by decreasing the number of lanes from four to two and increase parking.

Known as “The Main Street Initiative”, the proposal was presented by Doug Blevins, president of Wilton Manors Main Street, an organization of business and property owners charged with making downtown Wilton Manors a better place to work, play, shop and stay.

Wilton Drive Improvements Move Forward

-The proposal to improve traffic flow and provide more parking on Wilton Drive has taken a huge step forward with the support of the city commission and the commission’s approval to create a Wilton Drive Task Force. The Task Force members will soon be appointed to initiate the plan and help identify any and all sources of possible funding for the Wilton Drive improvements.
