By DANIEL HICKS — The Bush political dynasty is far from over.
On his Facebook page today, former Florida governor Jeb Bush made it clear he’s interested in the role of U.S. commander-in-chief.
“I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States,” Bush states in his open letter. “In January, I also plan to establish a Leadership PAC that will help me facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation. The PAC’s purpose will be to support leaders, ideas and policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans.”
With marriage equality on the horizon, January is likely to set the political tone in Florida for all of 2015. Bush branded same-sex marriage as “a distraction” during the 2012 presidential campaign. At the time, he said that President Barack Obama should drop his endorsement of equality in marriage, and instead focus on foreign and domestic policy.
