OAKLAND PARK — Political newcomer Tim Lonergan was elected on Tuesday, March 12, to the Oakland Park City Commission District 5 seat, defeating former Mayor Layne Dallet Walls by a vote of 1,027 to 754.
Lonergan, a member of the Dolphin Democrats, will succeed Suzanne Boisvenue to the non-partisan commission seat. Boisvenue was prevented from running because of term limits.
